How will amputation impact amputee

Limb amputation will usually affect patient body. The body will feel tired and weak,Today MEDI-REHATEK will introduce how the amputation will impact the patientbody.

Amputation to the amputee's body can be divided into local and systemic effects:

1, Local impact:

The residual limb after amputation is called as stumpThe skin, blood vessels, muscles, nerves, bones on the stump are cut off. Whether it has some impact on the use of prosthesisThe questions are often presented as below:

① Residual limb swelling:
This is mostly due to amputation that leads to blood and lymph flow obstruction.

② Some parts of the residual limb have tenderness:
Painful parts occurs in the interception of nerve ends.

③ The side joint of stump is forced deformation (joints can not be straight):

It occurs in lower limb amputation, such as the thigh amputation patients can not extend backwards the hip, not have adduction; shank amputation patients can not straighten the knee. These causes are more due to unequal muscle strength which are in front and back, medial and lateral joint after limb muscle truncation.

2, Systemic impact

① Amputated patients suddenly reduce the amount of exercise, often resulting in increasing body weight. Especially female patients have too much subcutaneous faton residual limb and heavy weight which seriously affect the use of artificial limbs.

② Systemic muscle strength decreases, physical muscle is weakened
