Gait training of initial installation hip prosthesis

There is also a balanced training procedure before the gait exercise after the prosthesis assembly.The procedure is similar to that described above except that the platform of load bearing is replaced by  Medi-Rehatek prosthesis.

The gait training is a functional training performed by hip disarticulation amputees after they can grasp the balance of the body. The training steps are as follows:

1, The center of gravity moves in the support phase: the prosthesis as the support leg, health limbs alternately have stride and backwards stride, such training can help the prosthesis user master the way of movement of the center of gravity in the support phase;

2, The center of gravity moves in the swing phase: the healthy limb as the support leg, prosthesis alternately have stride and backwards stride, such training can help the prosthesis user master the way of movement of the center of gravity in the swing phase.Meanwhile stride action let user master and control the swing rhythm of prosthesis;

3, Gait coordination training: artificial limbs and healthy limbs move alternatively forward in order to achieve a certain degree of coordination;

4, Terrain obstacle training: for example, slope, ladder and other adaptive training of common environment in daily life;

The above process is divided into two parts,training with or without bars, training with bars refers to the hands touch the balance bar or other auxiliary tools in the state of training,training without bars refers to hands without relying on the balance bar or other auxiliary tools in the state of training.

The gait training in the prosthetic assembly is boring, but the prosthetic user must take it seriously. Once the bad gait is formed,it is difficult to be corrected.The systematical and professional training is the basis for ensuring good gait in the future.

Key points of gait training of initial installation hip prosthesis

Hip disarticulation prosthesis is composed of various accessories for the plane of amputation site is high. So the function and gait training process is complicated among the lower limb prostheses from Medi-Rehatek.  From the whole process of functional training, it can be divided into two stages,balanced training, gait training.

Balance training is mainly used in the time after preparation of the socket model and waiting for prosthetic production . The training method has three parts:

1, Amputee stands with bearing load on both sides of knee. (amputation side using the ischial bearing-load on the cast frame). Ensuring the level of pelvis and the stability of static standing,amputee move alternatively the trunk forward and backward ;

2,Ensuring healthy limb to stand alone and be stable upright state, amputee can twist the pelvis on the horizontal plane.Amputee shouldn’t relax when standing andobserve whether the pelvis is level before a mirror;

3,The amputation side bears load alone.The height cast frame can be slightly lowered. The amputation side bears load independently by ischium after healthy limb flexion , Ensuring the amputation side to be stable and upright, the health limbs canhave alternately stride and backwards stride.

There is also a balanced training procedure before the gait exercise after the prosthesis assembly.The procedure is similar to that described above except that the platform of load bearing is replaced by a prosthesis.

A skiing prosthesis for the disabled

MEDI-REHATEK find out that scientists design a skiing prosthesis for the disabled.Normal people are very easy to carry out the movement, for people with disabilities are more difficult. BMW also specifically designed a carbon fiber wheelchair for the disabled.

MEDI-REHATEK will introduce a skiing prosthesis for the disabled, which meet the needs of people with the disabled who want to ski.

Designer Thomas Belhacene found many simple movements but it was difficult for the disabled. So he designed this ski prosthesis SOLEIS that is specialized for the disabled.

SOLEIS is made from titanium alloy with sling straps and floating straps, as well as anti-impact devices, which are equivalent to the calf muscles and naked ankle Achilles tendon.They can help increase the load capacity, while be conducive to the uniform distribution of power. In addition, it also has a cushion and ankle spring that can achieve ankle flexion, can form the corresponding driving force.

The prosthetic material is very thin, while the soles of the feet with a removable design, it can make the appropriate deformation of the foot. In fact, this prosthesis is a completed art by Thomas Belhacene in 2012 at Art Center College, it won the 2013 IDSA Awards.

Classification of lower limb prosthesis

Medi-Rehatek will introduce classification of lower limb prosthesis today.

(A) According to the material selection and structure, it can be divided into wood, leather, aluminum, plastic prostheses; currently major prosthetic assembly companies, aluminum alloy is the most widely popular, most reliable quality of artificial limbs, so most prosthetic companies will recommend aluminum alloy prosthesis to patients.

(B) According to the structure and transmission, it can be divided into hinge-type prosthesis, mechanical transmission prostheses, hydraulic/pneumatic transmission prosthesis, etc., from the view of safety and comfort ,hydraulic and pneumatic prosthesis have unparalleled advantages.

(C) Classification of the amputation site,it can be divided to half prosthetic foot,ankle prosthesis, below-knee prosthesis,knee articulation prosthesis, thigh prosthesis, hip articulation prosthesis and so on. Because of the different amputation site and prosthetic structure, the magnitude of compensatory function is also different.

The better the compensation function of prosthesis with the same amputation site is, the higher the price is certainly.So patients need to combine their own situation, seriously consider assembly program of prosthetic company.

How to choose prosthesis for amputee

MEDI-REHATEK received a lot of inquiries from patients and found out that many patients had unclear choice of artificial limb assembly.They can not correctly determine what prosthesis they will assembly. Here,MEDI-REHATEK will give you about the classification of prosthesis.

Classification of the upper limb prosthesis:

Upper limb prosthesis is divided into cosmetic hand from the structure: it mainly plays a cosmetic effect with limited function.

Tool hand: it is mainly easy to work.

Functional prosthetic hand: beautiful features with good function.

EMG prosthetic hand: the structure is more complex with the bio-electric power, that is mainly applied to patients with forearm amputation currently.

Patients can choose the type of installation according to their own needs, but the better the compensation function of the prosthesis is, the more expensive the price is, so patients need to consider carefully.

Upper limb prosthesis from the amputation site can be divided into prosthetic fingers, wrist articulation prosthesis, forearm prosthesis, elbow articulation prosthesis, upper arm prosthesis, shoulder articulation prosthesis and so on.

For patients with fingers amputation, the current assembly of a functional prosthesis is unlikely, so the finger prosthesis is basically cosmetic fingers, but the price of the mechanical fingers from foreign research and development costs about 500 thousand dollars, there is no such technology in China right now.
